The primary weaponry of the Black Panther is an automatic 120mm, 55 caliber machine gun. Combining extremely sophisticated composite armor with soft-kill active protection capabilities, it is formidable. Production on the Black Panther started in 2013, and the first K2s were delivered to the Korean military in 2014. There have been 100 made thus far. There are currently 160 more in development (106 in "Lot 2" and 54 in "Lot 1").
Among all the tanks in service in any nation in the world, the K2 Black Panther is the most costly. Every unit is worth more than $8.5 million. The XK2, an experimental tank, was the initial model of the K2 Black Panther. There were 206 intended variants, with K2 being the first. Two variations on the K2 are the Altay and K2PL.
