These Are the Most Expensive Military Vehicles in Service Today

5. Sukhoi Su-57 – Russia

Producers: Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Plant and Sukhoi Russian Air Force Program: Main Users Unit Cost: $100 million*; Cost: $2.63 billion* The result of PAK FA's fighter program is the single-seat, stealthy, multirole fighter jet known by its NATO reporting name, "Felon," the Sukhoi Su-57. The first Russian combat aircraft equipped with stealth technology is the Su-57. Even though Sukhoi designed it, the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Plant produces the aircraft.

A decade after its inaugural flight in 2010, the aircraft was officially delivered to the Russian Air Force. With a price tag of $100 million per unit, a total of fourteen aircraft have been constructed to date. The Russian government has allocated $2.63 billion for these advanced fighters, a figure that has raised eyebrows among military analysts, many of whom consider it surprisingly low given the complexity and capabilities associated with modern stealth technology.

Some officials speculate that this budget allocation could signal Russia's intent to develop and finance a completely new stealth fighter, indicating a strategic shift in their military aviation focus. This potential development highlights ongoing competition in the realm of advanced military aircraft, as nations strive to enhance their aerial capabilities.
