The J-31 is distinguished by its stealthy design, which incorporates several advanced features aimed at enhancing its low observable capabilities. Key elements of its design include contoured weapons bays that minimize radar signature, allowing for the discreet carriage of munitions. Additionally, the aircraft features two oblique vertical stabilizers, which help improve stability and maneuverability while further reducing its radar cross-section.
Another notable aspect of the J-31's design is its forward-swept intakes equipped with DSI (Diverterless Supersonic Inlet) bumps, which optimize airflow to the engine while maintaining stealth. Completing the design is a two-piece bubble canopy, providing pilots with improved visibility and situational awareness during flight operations.
