20 Mysterious Dog Breeds Most People Never Knew Existed

6. Alaskan Klee Kai

The Alaskan Klee Kai resembles a miniature Siberian Husky and is a relatively recent breed. Their name translates to "small dog," and they are more domesticated than Huskies. These active dogs require abundant activity, just like their larger relatives. Developed in Alaska during the 1970s and 1980s, the breed was created to be a companion-sized version of the Husky. They are available in toy, miniature, and standard sizes, standing 13 to 17 inches tall. Despite their size, they retain many Husky characteristics, including facial masks and diverse coat colors. Alaskan Klee Kai are clever, alert, and make outstanding watchdogs. They can be reserved with strangers but develop strong attachments with their families. They thrive on mental and physical challenges like agility and puzzle games.
